Jennifer Lawrence, her Oscar, and your Dharma

What do Jennifer Lawrence and her Oscar have to do with you and your dharma? Keep reading. This is proof of really good stuff. Cosmic forces, soul-led living, and deeper, peaceful happiness.

Surprising Affirmation

The former magazine editor in me still lights up whenever the Vogue tombe lands in our mailbox. Lush editorial spreads, witty writing, and gorgeous fashion. Yum. I don’t usually expect to find affirmation of dharma, destiny, and listening to your essential self there though. Leave it to Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence to surprise me. You know this girl? Hunger Games and X-Men star, Silver Linings Playbook Oscar-winner, and well…just check out this list of her accomplishments.

Dharma, Destiny and Your Essential Self

Dharma:
– Duty, or destiny.
– According to Buddhism: The Laws of Nature. Essential Self:
– The part of you that is comprised of your DNA, your genetic legacy.
– Your tastes, your talents.
– Very much connected to your soul.
– Communicates to you through physical sensation gathered from the non-verbal part of your brain.
– Makes decisions from a place of love–feeling drawn towards.
– Knows your dharma and your destiny and how to get you there.

When your Essential Self, and Jennifer Lawrence’s, says ‘Yes.’

When our Essential Self is telling us we’re on the wrong track, it sends us physical sensations that feel like stress, anxiety, compression, and constriction. We feel tired, overwhelmed, and unhappy. When we’re on the right track our Essential Self sends us physical sensations like ease and relaxation. We feel lighter, grounded, and much more happy. Apparently Jennifer Lawrence has a very strong Essential Self. In the article by Jonathan Van Meter we get a glimpse into the times in her life when her Essential Self said ‘no.’ And also when it said a very resounding ‘yes.’
“One time, my mom was on the phone with my dad, saying, “We’re paying for therapy and all this medication, and we don’t need it when she’s here. She’s happy.” – Jennifer Lawrence
Apparently, the anxiety Jennifer Lawrence felt growing up faded once she started acting. She became happy. My hunch is that her Essential Self was speaking loud and clear. She’d found what she’d been destined for all along. Welcome Oscar, Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, Satellite Award and the Independent Spirit Award for Best Actress.

Finding What You’re Destined For

Don’t look at this story and think to yourself “That could never be me.” Look at this story and see it as proof that we’re all biologically inclined to find our way towards the life we’re meant for. If we start listening. Choose love over fear, peace over stress, and don’t let anyone tell you you can’t. It’s your dharma, your destiny, and the greatest gift you can give to the world. Thinking of you, xL
