Stress affects everybody.

It can make us feel tired, sad, and overwhelmed. Stress can even make us afraid of taking steps towards living the life we want to live. Recent research done by Japanese scientists at Chiba University shows one small thing can help lower stress in a big way. This activity decreases cortisol level, sympathetic nervous system activity—that’s the part of our nervous system in charge of our stress response—and decreases blood pressure and heart rate. And it increases parasympathetic nervous activity, too—by 55%. That’s the part of our nervous system in charge of calming us down.

There’s anecdotal evidence, too

Interestingly, when I ask my life coaching clients to remember a time when they felt the least stressed and the most calm, nearly all of them bring up a time when they were doing this. So what is this activity? Check out the video and find out. Plus: You’ll learn how this stress reliever can become what Jonathan Fields calls a “certainty anchor”–a way to anchor certainty into your life, so you can handle uncertainty with more ease.
