Wild Wisdom: 22 Love Lessons from My Naked Heart to Your Anxious Head
June 19, 2012
Doesn’t that title just grab your soul? Too bad I didn’t come up with it.
You know who did? An inspiring holistic anxiety coach, speaker and now the author of this breath of fresh air work of the soul-grabbing name. Her name is Hadley Gustin, and she reached out to me a little bit ago just to say ‘hello’–because we seem to have an uncanny amount in common.
And when her update on what she’s up to included doing some interviews about her new book, I wanted to read it, too. Lucky for me, and now for you, she sent it over.
I’ll be honest–when she said it was a lot of poetry I crinkled my nose and thought “yawn.” BUT then I got it. And I read it. And it stopped me in my still often anxiety-riddled always-on-the-go tracks. It made me be still. It made me feel quiet–from my bones to my eyelashes. It’s true, it’s inspiring, and it’s peaceFULL.
Here’s a few of the maxims you might adore if you get it here.
BURY NOTHING; BE PRESENT IN EVERY FEELING YOU HAVE
TO BE ANXIOUS IS MERELY TO BE OUT OF BALANCE
WHO YOU ARE IS ABSOLUTE, BUT WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE IS ALWAYS YOURS TO DECIDE
LEARN TO LIKE YOUR LACK OF CONTROL
NO MAGIC PILL CAN CHANGE THE WORK YOU MUST DO ON YOURSELF
And this:
The change will never occur outside.
It has to be within.
Don’t change who you are.
You are perfect and free.
Perception is all it takes
To unbind the shackles of negativity.
