Consider this: when you’re having a bad day, slept poorly, and feeling stressed, how does your day go?
And when you’re having a great day, slept well, and feel great, how does your day go?
You can have an identical day from the outside perspective, and feel completely different about it from one day to the next. It all depends on what we think about the experience.
“In order to achieve happiness, you need a variety of approaches and methods to deal with and overcome the varied and complex negative mental states.” ~ the Dalai Lama
So much of what we believe to be true is based on how we perceive what happens. And our perception is heavily influenced by our thoughts.
That’s what the Dalai Lama is talking about: our need for some way to handle the negative thoughts. For this I love what spiritual teacher Byron Katie teaches.
Today
Question each and every negative thought. Is it true? Can you absolutely know that it’s true? Create your happiness by choosing to question negative thoughts.
