The chances of discovering a shoe that’s aiming at sustainability, and still looks cute? Pretty slim.

But then I heard that Simple Shoes, makers of, simply put (pardon the pun–I couldn’t help it), some of the most adorable casual footwear out there, was debuting in Canada today.

Simple is committed to making products that are 100% sustainable, and keeps working towards their goal with every collection. For Spring 2009, they’ve added glue-free assembly to certain styles in the Green Toe collection, are using eco-friendly silk and unbleached hemp (that oh-so-hippy fabric) in different styles, and are once again using surfer Joe Curren‘s prints–done on 100% certified organic cotton.

Joy Yoga loves the silk Entire peep-toe flat in blue with white polka dots ($85 CAN, shown), and in green, too, and the CARload for men, in unbleached hemp ($110 CAN).

What with the new improvement in the game of chance, maybe I’ll take up gambling (just kidding).
