5-Minute Meditation

1. Begin breathing deeply. Settle your gaze on something directly in front of your eyes. Notice every detail of that something. Ridges, roundness, lines, blankness.

2. Close your eyes, keeping the image of the object in your mind’s eye. Keep breathing deeply.

3. Now your mind is settled enough to move on. Begin to picture a place you love, a place that makes you feel peaceful and restful. Your favourite living room chair? The dock at the lake you visited as a kid? Your summer cabin? Or maybe it’s just the sky. Keep breathing deeply.

4. Do just what you did with the object. Notice every detail of that place, every line, every curve, every texture. Keep breathing deeply.

5. Stay in that place, breathing deeply (Did you guess I was going to say that?) for the rest of your five minutes.
