review: Yoga Nidra from Hypnosis Downloads

I suppose if things start to feel really crazy, and your mind just absolutely can’t slow down, you might actually want to get that knocked out kinda feeling. As in, whammo, you’re down for the count. Ahhh, finally.

I don’t know much about hypnosis, other than having watched a few classmates at my grade 12 prom party get up on a stage with a hypnotist and start acting like chickens. And don’t take this post as an endorsement of the practice; but I did find something beneficial to the so-called Yoga Nidra meditation by Uncomon Knowledge. Once I got over the cheesy, Masterpiece Theatre intro music, and opened myself to the experience of the British voice taking me through an intensive relaxation process, I actually felt pretty relaxed. As in, I’m kinda floating out of my body relaxed.

I’m not sure if this is exactly what psychotherapist, and voice of Yoga Nidra, Mark Tyrell was aiming for, but, since it was the end of a long day of work with tight deadlines (or livelines, as my man likes to call them) I appreciated feeling my mind let go.

I like Yoga Nidra for exactly the same reasons you cite. I do some version of it whenever I can't fall asleep at night. I either fall asleep in the middle, or have a great Yoga Nidra experience, one or the other.Bob Weisenberg
