Giving Thanks: For Trucks

I was attempting to meditate this morning. I say attempting because at the moment I sat down on my mat to tune in, an enormously noisy truck arrived for construction work at the building beside mine. It rankled and rolled and roared. It went on and on. I went from peace to pissed off. I sent a request up to the sky, “Can you please make this truck go away? I really really need this meditation this morning.” It rankled and rolled and roared. It didn’t go away.

Finally, I got my yoga back. I realized that this is what it’s all about. I couldn’t control that truck, but I could control my reaction to it. I breathed, I turned my attention and intention to my third eye point, I dropped into my heart centre. Peace arrived inside. The truck roared outside. I smiled.
