introducing the illumination station: questions to brighten your soul

The older and wiser I get, the less I know.

I have more questions than answers, more queries than statements, and believe more in the power of self-inquiry than the power of self assertion.

One of my teachers, Swami Maheshananda Saraswati, once wrote to me: “I’m not going to answer all your questions, but keep on asking them anyway.” Because he knew that eventually the power of inquiry itself would begin to resonate, begin to find its own gentle way through the devoted uncertainty in my wandering mind–towards understanding.

Questions are powerful. If we let them be.

I have experienced more truth through constantly asking myself ‘Why’ than in attempting to state the conclusion. I have experienced more freedom through consciously letting go of what I thought I knew when being questioned by someone else than I have from defending my position. I have experienced more liberty through curiosity than I have through believing I already know. I believe that questions can tap us into the shine of our soul–the core light in our life that aches to brighten the world.
